Detailed Itinerary
 
Day 1: Friday USA - Frankfurt
Overnight transatlantic flight to Frankfurt.
 
Day 2: Saturday Frankfurt - Rothenburg ob der Tauber (D)
Meet your guide in Frankfurt this morning at the airport. If time allows, take an orientation tour of the city. This afternoon you will transfer to the quaint medieval city of “Rothenburg ob der Tauber”, where you will check into your hotel. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure to explore the city’s romantic Christmas Market. Enjoy a welcome drink, followed by dinner at your hotel this evening.

Day 3: Sunday Rothenburg – Nuremberg – Rothenburg (B)
After breakfast, you will take a short walking tour of Rothenburg. Depart for a pleasant drive to Nuremberg, for the world’s largest and most famous Christmas Market. Arrive back in Rothenburg late this afternoon. Dinner is on your own. Overnight in Rothenburg this evening.

Day 4: Monday Rothenburg – Nueschwanstein Castle - Innsbruck (B)
This morning we drive south to visit “Neuschwanstein”, the fairy tale castle, made popular during the rein of Ludwig II. Early in the afternoon, you depart via Garmisch to Innsbruck. You will have ample time to visit the scenic Innsbruck Christmas Market, located in the old town. Overnight in Innsbruck.

Day 5: Tuesday Innsbruck (B,D)
After breakfast, your tour guide will lead a panoramic city tour of Innsbruck, highlighting the Maria Theresienstrasse, the Hofburg, and the “Golden Roof”, all set against the backdrop of the beautiful Austrian Alps. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore the city, its many unique specialty shops and its wonderful Christmas Market. This evening, attend an Advent concert followed by dinner at your hotel.

Day 6: Wednesday Innsbruck - Wattens - Salzburg (B)
After breakfast, travel through the picturesque Austrian countryside to Salzburg. This city is filled with beautiful gardens and wondrous architecture. On the way, a stop will be made in Wattens, where the “New” Swarovski Crystal World is located. Upon your arrival in Salzburg, enjoy a leisurely paced walking tour featuring Mirabell Gardens (seen in the Sound of Music), the quaint Getreidegasse (site of Mozart’s birthplace), and many other highlights of this beautiful city. This afternoon is at your leisure to explore Salzburg’s traditional Christmas Market. Overnight in Salzburg.

Day 7: Thursday7 Salzburg – Oberndorf - Salzburg (B,D)
Today journey to the hometown of the Silent Night composer – Oberndorf and visit the Silent Night church. Return to Salzburg, soak up the atmosphere of the Adventszeit and visit the Christmas Market to search for local handicrafts and imaginative Christmas gifts. This evening enjoy dinner at your hotel. Overnight in Salzburg.

Day 8: Friday Salzburg- Munich (B,D)
Following breakfast, you will leave for Munich. After your arrival in the Bavarian Capital, you will take a guided tour of Germany’s “secret capital”, featuring the Olympic Stadium, a 1,000 foot high television tower, Marienplatz with the Old and New Town Hall and the Gothic Frauenkirche. This afternoon you can explore Munich’s well-known Christmas Market at your own pace, while sampling the famous “Lebkuchen” and “Gluhwein”. In the late afternoon, your coach will take you back to your hotel, located close to the airport. This evening enjoy your farewell dinner at your hotel. Overnight in Munich.

Day 9: Saturday Frankfurt – USA (B)
Enjoy breakfast before checking out of your hotel, and then take your return flight back to the U.S. on regular scheduled air.
