This morning there is a city tour of Amsterdam including a concert, that will highlight its vivid history. The ship sails from Amsterdam midday and cruises south along the Amsterdam Rijnkanaal, through the landscape of Southern Holland, reaching the Rhine and continuing past Nijmegen into Germany. After breakfast, a lecture will be held regarding the music program onboard. In the early afternoon you reach Bonn, the former capital of Germany, where you can catch an optional
City tour1. The city of Bonn is famous for its Beethoven heritage, and has also earned the nickname "City of Languages." Explore Bonn and its numerous sights - attractions, churches, and scenery - by bus or by foot, since this city has so much to explore. Enjoy the outstanding landscape of this Rhine city and the "Siebengebirge" hills, along with its international atmosphere. Evening concert in Bonn.
The MS AMADEUS PRINCESS sails for Ruedesheim, along what is probably the most famous and scenic stretch of the Rhine Valley. You will pass hilltop castles, terraced vineyards and attractive riverside villages. Dock in Ruedesheim at noon. This charming old wine town is popular with tourists, and has a long narrow street, the Drosselgasse, lined on both sides with wine taverns. There is an optional
Walking tour of the town1 with a visit to Siegfried's Music Museum, where you will view a unique variety of mechanical music instruments from barrel organs and music boxes to horn gramophones. The MS AMADEUS PRINCESS sets sail from Ruedesheim in the afternoon and arrives in Mainz.
Before departing Mainz this afternoon, you will enjoy a sightseeing tour of Gutenberg's city, with concert. Mainz's Old Town, or inner city, is its pride and joy. Broad squares, lovingly restored half-timbered houses, and magnificent Baroque churches give the Old Town its charming character. In the evening, during your dinner, we cruise into Mannheim's river port. Concert onboard.
After breakfast, you will take a coach to Heidelberg, home of Germany's oldest university founded in 1386. Your escorted tour will include a concert, along with a stop by the imposing Heidelberg Castle, a red sandstone ruin overlooking the River Neckar, and concludes with a walking tour through the Old Town and market place. This evening, the captain will be delighted to welcome you to the Captain's Gala Dinner including a wonderful concert onboard.
Arrive to Strasbourg early in the morning, where we say good-bye to our French passengers, who will disembark after breakfast. Buses will be waiting to take you on a city sightseeing tour, including a concert. With its monumental cathedral featuring carvings as delicate as any piece of lacework, Strasbourg is one of Europe's most attractive cities. Thanks to the richness and sheer density of its historical sites, the entire city center has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Strasbourg is definitely well worth a visit, to discover its history, cuisine and unique atmosphere. During your last evening aboard the ship, enjoy the farewell dinner and concert, as you sail up the Rhine to Switzerland.
