Detailed Itinerary
 
Day 1, Saturday USA - Frankfurt
Depart from the United States on a regular scheduled flight to Frankfurt.
 
Day 2, Sunday Frankfurt - Eisenach - Weimar (D)
Your tour departs from Frankfurt Airport and will take you to Eisenach, to visit one of the most important structures of German History, the Wartburg Castle. While inside, stop at the room where Luther lived and worked for many years and eventually spent his last years in seclusion. Continue to Weimar, one of Germany´s greatest cultural treasures. Poets such as Schiller and Goethe, musicians Liszt and Strauss, and writers Nietzsche and Gropius have all lived and worked here. In the evening, enjoy your welcome dinner. Overnight stay at Hotel Leonardo or similar.
 
Day 3, Monday Weimar - Wittenberg - Potsdam (B)
After breakfast, you head to Luther’s Wittenberg, where the reformation started when he pinned his 95 thesis to the portal of the church. Continue on to Potsdam, and visit Sanssouci Palace, the former summer residence of Frederick the Great, King of Prussia. Overnight at the Tryp Hotel or similar.
 
Day 4, Tuesday Potsdam - Berlin (B)
Today you depart for Berlin. Upon your arrival, tour the highlights of Germany´s most important and exciting city. Visit Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, the Reichstag, and the Berliner Dom (the Protestant Cathedral). After check-in at your hotel, the afternoon is free to enjoy the numerous well-known museums or visit Berlin‘s various department stores, like the KaDeWe. You may choose to participate in an optional boat trip which allows you to view some of Berlin‘s important sights from the River Spree. Overnight stay at Hotel Express by Holiday Inn Berlin City Centre or similar.
 
Day 5, Wednesday Berlin - Dresden - Berlin (B)
Following breakfast, you will travel to Dresden for a day trip. Enjoy one of the loveliest cities of central Europe – the “Florence on the Elbe”, as it is known. Visit some of its well-known landmarks, including the beautifully restored Frauenkirche, the Semper Opera House, Green Vault, the Baroque Zwinger Palace and many others. Later this afternoon, you return to Berlin.

Day 6, Thursday Berlin - Hamburg (B)
In the morning, you head north to Hamburg, where a tour of this impressive city will begin. The main sites of Hamburg including the Michel, Reeperbahn, Alster and more, will be included before you begin a relaxing harbor cruise of Germany’s largest seaport. This evening, you may choose to visit the amusement quarter, in Hamburg’s Reeperbahn. Overnight at Hotel Panorama-Hamburg-Billstedt.
 
Day 7, Friday Hamburg – Bremen - Hamelin (B)
After breakfast, you depart for Bremen, the Free Hanseatic City known for its tradition of trade and seafaring. Visit the picturesque market place with the statue of “Roland“, the Old Town, City Hall and the Cathedral. The tour continues along the Fairy-Tale Road, and will reach Hamelin, the city of the Pied Piper. Tonight, enjoy dinner with the group. Overnight stay at the Hotel Mercure or similar.
 
Day 8, Saturday Hamelin - Frankfurt (B)
This morning, enjoy the delightful old quarter of the historical town of Hamelin on the River Weser. Afterwards, you continue south along the Fairy-Tale Road, with stops made depending on the weather and local traffic. Following your arrival in Frankfurt this afternoon, a tour will showcase the features of this traditional, yet modern city. Tonight dinner will be hosted in one of the local restaurants, where you may choose to sample the local speciality, cider or Apfelwein. Overnight stay at Express by Holiday Inn or similar.

Day 9: Sunday Frankfurt - Wuerzburg - Rothenburg (B/L)
Depart from Frankfurt in the morning and drive to through the Spessart Mountains to Wuerzburg. Enjoy a tour of its magnificent Residence, which is a masterpiece of German Baroque architecture. Continue on the Romantic Road to Rothenburg, Germany’s “Jewel of the Middle Ages“. A walking tour of this charming town will follow, and will include a visit to the Jackobskirch, know for the famous altar created by Tilman Riemenschneider. In the evening, dinner will be hosted at your hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel Tilman Riemenschneider or similar.
 
Day 10: Monday Rothenburg - Augsburg - Fuessen (B)
After breakfast, you will continue along the Romantic Road, and will stop in charming towns like Dinkelsbuehl and Noerdlingen. On your way to Fuessen, you will pass the city of Augsburg and the glorious Rococo style pilgrimage church of Wies, with its picturesque views of the spectacular Bavarian Alps. Overnight stay at the Treff Hotel Luitpoldpark or similar.
 
Day 11: Tuesday Fuessen - Neuschwantstein - Linderhof - Garmish(B)
Following breakfast, today’s first stop will be a short trip to Hohenschwangau, to visit the fairytale castle of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein. Continue on to Linderhof Castle, less famous, but even more beautiful than Neuschwanstein. Later this afternoon, you will arrive in the Olympic Town of Garmish-Partenkirchen and overnight at the Hotel Obermuehle or similar.

Day 12: Wednesday Garmish-Partenkirchen - Obberammergau - Munich (B)
After breakfast, the tour will continue towards Oberammergau, home of the famous Passion Play which is performed only once every decade, most recently in the year 2000. After a stop at the Benedictine Monastery of Ettal, it’s on to Munich. A city tour of Munich will highlight the Bavarian capital, and include Nyphemburg Palace and the Olympic Tower. Following the tour, you will have the remainder of the day to explore Munich on your own. Overnight stay at the Hotel Erzgiesserei or similar. An optional Bavarian Evening, with dinner and entertainment, will be offered in Munich tonight. (details to be provided by the tour guide)

Day 13: Thursday Munich - Lindau - Lake Constance - Konstanz (B)
The morning you will proceed to the north shore of Lake Constance, which is located between Germany, Switerland and Austria. Enjoy a walking tour of Lindau, before continuing on to Konstanz, the largest town on Lake Constance. Overnight stay in nearby Singen, at the Holiday Inn Express, or similar.

Day 14: Friday Konstanz - Freiburg - Black Forest – Heidelberg - Weisloch(B/D)
After breakfast, depart for Freiburg, a region known for its cuckoo clocks. Visit the town of Triberg along Lake Titsee, before arriving in Frieberg, “the capital of the Black Forest“. Following a city tour, continue on towards the university town of Heidelberg. Tonight enjoy a farewell dinner at the famous Restaurant Zum Ritter St. Georg, built in the 16th century. Overnight stay at the Best Western Palatin or similar.

Day 15: Saturday Heidelberg - Ruedesheim - Frankfurt(B)
Early this morning, visit the inner courtyard of Heidelberg Castle. Afterwards, travel the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, famous for its wines and vineyards. Take a brief cruise down the Rhine, from Ruedesheim to St. Goarshausen, passing romantic castles and the Loreley Rock. Arrive in Frankfurt this evening. Overnight at the Intercity Hotel or similar.

Day 16, Sunday Frankfurt (B)
Following breakfast and hotel check-out, transfer on your own* to the airport for a scheduled flight back to the United States.
