On the way to the hotel have an overview tour of the new/old capital of Germany. After check in time to relax and recover from the flight. Welcome dinner will be served at a local restaurant.   Day 3 Late morning tour of Berlin includes Checkpoint Charlie, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, the Cathedral, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and many other sights. Return to the hotel for a full, 3-course lunch. Early transfer to the 250 year old Staatsoper Unter den Linden for the 4:00 pm performance of Die Meistersinger von Nuernberg. Refreshments and snacks can be taken during the long intermissions, or your may want to opt for a late supper after the performance.   Day 4 Tour of the world-famous Museum Island including the National Gallery and the Pergamon Museum. After lunch on own visit Charlottenburg Palace. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. Transfer from the hotel to the Deutsche Oper Berlin for the 6:00 pm performance of Electra.   Day 5 Continuation of the sightseeing tour of Berlin including a boat trip on the Spree river. Tour ends at lunchtime and afternoon is at your leisure.   Day 6 After a leisurely morning departure to Potsdam. Lunch at the restrurant at Cecilienhof before visiting the Palace of Sanssouci with the Chinese Tea House, the Orangerie, and the Sicilian Gardens. Return to Berlin in the late afternoon, rest of the day at leisure. Optional: tickets to a cultural event; exact list of all scheduled events will be provided.   Day 7 This day is completely at your leisure in Berlin for shopping, museum visits, exploring on your own. The local tour escort will be assisting you to plan the day. Transfer from the hotel to the Deutsche Oper Berlin for the 6:00 pm performance of Fidelio. Optional: tickets to a cultural event; exact list of all scheduled events will be provided.   Day 8 After breakfast departure from Berlin to Dresden. Stop in Meissen to visit the porcelain factory and for lunch on your own. Arrive in Dresden in the early afternoon and after check-in we take you to the pier for a mini-cruise on the Elbe River to Pillnitz Castle and Park. See Schloss Albrechtsburg, Linger Schloss, and Schloss Eckburg en route. From Pillnitz by bus to Moritzburg, dinner at the historic restaurant Waldschaenke.   Day 9 Morning walking tour of Dresden with visit to the Gallery of Old Masters. Lunch on own and afternoon excursion to Leipzig. Tour the Renaissance Old Town Hall, the 12th-century Market Place, the Old Exchange, and St. Thomas' Church. Dinner at the famous Auersbach Keller, followed by a 7:30 pm performance of Don Carlo at the Leipzig Opera. Late return to Dresden.   Day 10 Continuation of the sightseeing tour of Dresden in the morning with visit to the Green Vault in Zwinger Palace Complex. Afternoon at leisure for shopping and exploring on your own. Dinner will be served at the hotel before tonight's performance of Arabella at the renowned Semper Opera.   Day 11 After breakfast transfer to Dresden Airport for your flight back to Newark via Frankfurt.
