Detailed Itinerary
 
DAY 1 - Friday USA - Warsaw
Depart on a regular scheduled flight from USA to Warsaw.
 
DAY 2 - Saturday WARSAW
After arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the heart of the city. The afternoon is free. At 6:00pm in the evening, meet your guide/group and drive along the beautifully renovated Royal Route with its historical monuments and residences. Stop at Castle Square for a short walk through the Old Town. A welcome dinner at a local restaurant will include typical Polish dishes and the famous vodka, "Zubrowka."

DAY 3 - Sunday WARSAW
This morning, a half-day sightseeing tour includes the Old Town, with its impressive 300-room Royal Castle. You will lunch at a local restaurant and then continue your drive to the area of the former Warsaw Ghetto. You will see the National Opera House and Town Hall. You will also stop at the famous Warsaw café, to taste a typical pastry called “paczek”. This evening enjoy an unforgettable Chopin piano recital.

DAY 4 - Monday WARSAW – CZESTOCHOWA – AUSCHWITZ – ZAKOPANE
Leave Warsaw for Zakopane, a small mountain village situated in the valley between the Gubalowka and Giewont in the Tatra Mountains. En route, you will stop in Czestochowa to visit the Jasna Gora Monastery, the Black Madonna Shrine and to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. You will then drive to Auschwitz to visit the Martyrdom Museum of the former Nazi concentration camp. Arrive in picturesque Zakopane, Poland’s most famous resort area in the evening.

DAY 5 - Tuesday  ZAKOPANE – KRAKOW
Your sightseeing tour of Zakopane includes a visit the Jaszczurowka Chapel, built by the townspeople to thank the Lady of Fatima for saving Pope John Paul II after an attempt on his life. Admire the breathtaking views of the Tatras peaks from the top of Gubalowka, and shop for Highlanders (Gorale) souvenirs. Before you continue on to Krakow, you will take a spectacular rafting trip on the Dunajec River in Pieniny National Park. Tonight’s dinner will be served at a local restaurant in Krakow’s Old Town Market Square.

DAY 6 - Wednesday KRAKOW – WIELICZKA – KRAKOW
The morning’s sightseeing tour will feature the royal castle Wawel, home to three dynasties of Poland’s monarchs. Its stately halls and exquisite chambers are filled with priceless art, valuable period furniture, rare ancient artifacts, and monumental tapestries. You will also visit the Wawel Cathedral, famous for its giant bell and 18 chapels. Following a short break for coffee and cake at the renowned Krakow café, “Jama Michalika,” you will head to the Old Town, where you will see the magnificent wooden altar by Wit Stwosz at St. Mary’s Basilica, and Cloth Hall, a central feature in the main market square. After lunch on your own, you will proceed to the underground Wieliczka Salt Mine. Dinner, with a folkloric show, will be served at a local restaurant in Wieliczka before you return to Krakow.

DAY 7- Thursday KRAKOW – AUSCHWITZ – KRAKOW
Drive to Auschwitz to visit the Martyrdom Museum. In the afternoon you will have time to explore the city on your own and shop.

DAY 8 - Friday KRAKOW – TORUN
Enjoy a morning tour of Torun, birthplace of Nicolaus Copernicus and one of the most magnificent historic cities in all of Poland. Its Old Town has been added to the UNESCO’s World Heritage list for its impressive 13th century Town Hall. A visit to the Copernicus Museum in included.

DAY 9 - Saturday TORUN – GDANSK
After breakfast you will leave for Gdansk with lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you will have time for walking through the city.

DAY 10 - Sunday GDANSK – GDYNIA – SOPOT – GDANSK
Today, you will tour Gdansk in depth. Starting at the Upland Gate, one of the city's main gates, you will see the Prison Tower and the Torture House, relics of 15th century Gothic defense walls. The Golden Gate, situated next to the Prison Tower, opens onto Long Market, a magnificent street of grand mansions decorated with late Renaissance and Baroque facades. It is here that the richest burghers of Gdansk once lived. Next, you will see the Main Town, Artus Court - one of the most beautiful court buildings in all of Europe’s Hanseatic cities - and the tower of St. Mary's Basilica. You will then drive to Gdynia and visit Oliwa Cathedral, famous for its one-of-a-kind pipe organ. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Sopot, a fashionable seaside resort that is home to the oldest and longest wooden pier in Europe. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

DAY 11 - Monday GDANSK – MALBORK – WARSAW
After breakfast, visit the Teutonic Knights Castle in Malbork. It is the largest brick building in Europe and one of Poland’s greatest tourist attractions. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you continue to Olsztyn, a town located in a region of lakes and forests. The most attractive part of the city is the Old Town, enclosed within fortified walls. Drive to Warsaw where you will enjoy a farewell dinner this evening.

DAY 12 - Tuesday WARSAW
After breakfast this morning, transfer to the airport for the return flight home.
